Outdoor Phenolic Labels and UV Stability

Solar arrays, rooftop equipment, and outdoor disconnects need labels that survive twenty years of sun. Standard indoor engraving stock is not built for that, and the failure mode is predictable.

What UV does to a label

Ultraviolet light breaks down pigments and surface finishes. On a non-rated label, the cap color chalks and the contrast fades until the engraving is hard to read. On safety marking, that is a genuine hazard.

UV-stable microsurfaced acrylic

For outdoor and rooftop work we use UV-stable microsurfaced acrylic. The cap layer is formulated to hold its color under sunlight, so the engraved text stays high-contrast far longer than a standard sheet. This is the correct stock for PV placards and outdoor disconnect marking.

Spec it once, correctly

If a label lives outside, say so on the order. We will use the UV-rated substrate rather than an indoor sheet that looks identical on day one and disappoints in year three.
